oversize ... how common are these ?

Mack, as mentioned before on facebook the "jumbo" size you're displaying are common, but more extreme (see picture) are much less common.
when it comes to undersize, they're quite rare.

thank you for images ... the short are result of jumbos ... in france, jumbos are called "a cheval" - or jumper

i like how you so steadfast determine this.

although not completely sure, i do believe you're wrong. as far as i'm informed the short stamps appear in first horizontal row, and the oversized in the 10th horizontal row.
