100 øre 'Spies'

The attached diagram from my notes shows the 'spies' that I have found and which may be of interest to other collectors of the bi-colours. I would appreciate information from anyone who is able to confirm these 'spies' as well as additional ones that I have not listed. They do help in confirming the placement of individual stamps.

Hi Brian,

Have you viewed the 100 ore 'Spies'-2 post which lists the prints and positions of the stamps that I checked? As you can see there are quite a number of stamps involved so it might be a problem listing all of them. I hope I am able to find a way to help.

I shall keep you informed.

Hi Brian,

Scanning all the individual stamps in my post would definitely exceed the allowed file size. However I think that you should be able to view the individual stamps for most of my 'spies' OFs by using the whole sheet scans already on this website. Below are examples of OF42 extracted from the sheet scans and 'colour changed' using Photoshop to enhance the yellow and lessen the blue grey colours. After doing this you are able to clearly see the 'spies' marks. Any good image program (e.g. Gimp, Photoshop Elements, inPixio, CorelDRAW, etc.) should be able to also do this. Below are examples of 100ore OF42 from a few printings.

Ed, you're allowed to make more than one post. So you can make subjects for each, or bundle them up a little.
so where there's a will there's a way.

i collect 100øre in general, and i have a side interest in the production(flaws) of bi colored, perf errors, extreme centering, tall/short stamps etc. So naturally spies' have my interest.

the reason behind the picture request is that after several lectures on spies' on various meetings and talks with Lasse the conclusion is that spies' aren't completely consistent but a helpful telltale, and often there's a link between the volume of the print and consistency of spies'.

100ø3 68 is a good example of this as this is only present on some of the sheets, and besides the 5E and the % of the stamps that are done with KII, you have no other way of positioning it.

you list this spies as start of the print only, which is guess is because it's on the 1st scan of the 9 sheets, but we have no way of knowing for sure.
i'll attach the 2 copies of the position i have. one is Lap. 20-12 and the other is Bro-Ia 1894 (3 years later than produced and from Copenhagen)
if you could supply the copies you have then we might be able to confirm or discard this statement.

in regards to 100ø1 there's a lot of small dots in this print and they are handy for placing a few of the "new clichés", so if you have any of those i'd like to see those as well.

Søren Kavin also has an interest in spies' in 16øre, so perhaps you should try and reach him on his email, because i don't think he uses this forum a lot.

it's a good work you've done, a very interesting area and a helpful tool that many overlook.
