Ekstra kendetegn for 16 øre OF.1.93 og mulig placering i Tryk 6

For printings 1 to 8, there is only one feature to identify this kliché. Since this can be easily hidden by a cancel on a used stamp, I looked for other features and found a spot under the D which is visible in several printings.

In printing 4, the primary feature (red arrow) is not particularly obvious while the spot (red circle) is quite clear.

In printing 3, the spot is visible but could easily be missed.

The spot is also difficult to see in printing 5.

The spot is clearly visible in printing 8.

The spot is also clearly visible in printing 9 and 10 (not shown).

The spot is also clearly visible in printing 11. On this particular stamp, the other features of OF.1.93 are hidden by the cancel.

The spot is fairly faint on printing 13 and probably not too useful.

I next looked for the the spot in printing 6. I looked at every position in the whole sheet that does not yet have an assigned OF. The best candidate for placement of OF.1.93 in printing 6 is position 9.

Note that this is fairly speculative due to the poor coverage of the ink in this location. However, it is the only stamp without an assigned OF with any features by the I in POSTFRIM. Perhaps someone has other examples of printing 6 position 9 which can confirm or refute this suggestion.

Conclusion: OF.1.93 has a spot under the D which can be useful for identifying this kliché in several printings, especially printing 4 and printings 8 to 12. This observation might also be useful for determining if this kliché was used in printings 6 and 7 and if so determining the position in the plate.

Thanks for following up. I agree that these three stamps prove my suggestion to be wrong. I'm sure you are right that this ovalcliché was not used in printing 6. Have you any material from printing 7 to answer the same question?

I don't have sufficient material from 16ø7, but Lasse Nielsen had a complete plating of this print
and OF.1.93 does not not show up!
