I wanted to place this stamp. From the color and inverted frame, I concluded it was from Printing 12. A close examination revealed a number of small features in the frame which are circled in red:

Looking for these in Tofdata 8.08 was not helpful so I decided to search for them in the whole sheet from Printing 12. The perforations are from KIII so of no help for determining the row so I started at one end and looked at each individual stamp and eventually found all five features in position 11.

Checking Tofdata again gave this description:

The features of RM.4M are only seen in Perlefejlserien so Printing 12 position 11 has no described distinguishing features making it difficult to identify on a single stamp.

I next looked for the frame features in 3 øre printing 8 position 11 and could only see two of them:
3ore VIII pos 11.jpg
3ore VIII pos 11.jpg (99.07 KiB) Vist 152 gange
RF.28.90 was also used in earlier printings such as 16 øre Printing 11 where it was in position 90. Unfortunately, there is no whole sheet available but position 90 has an easily detected oval flaw of which I have several copies:

Again, only two of the features are evident; however, I don't think either of these are unique enough to give a definitive description for RM.28.90.

Conclusion: the described features are only really useful for identifying 16 øre Printing 12 position 11. This is, of course, interesting for someone trying to do a complete plate reconstruction of Printing 12. It remains to be seen if these five features are seen through the whole printing or if they are only seen is part of it.

I will leave it to others to decide if this observation is worthy of inclusion of the next version of Tofdata (or whatever the next database will be called).

Best regards
Eric Johansen
